What a busy year it’s been! We can’t believe it’s Christmas already.
We’d like to wish all of our supporters a wonderful, peaceful festive period, surrounded by loved ones with plenty of eating, drinking, and merriment. Our guests are blessed to have such a wonderful community behind them, and Robes are very grateful to you all for your ongoing support.
We hope the new year brings lots of wonderful things to you.
Shelter Update
We’ve had a very successful beginning to the start of the season. There was unprecedented demand for the shelter, with around 70 referrals in the first week.
Our guests settled in very well with the assistance of our host venues and wonderful volunteers. Seven of them have already moved on to more permanent accommodation.
We’d like to thank all the venues that hosted pre-Christmas, the team leaders and volunteers who made it such smooth running. We’d also like to thank all the venues who are gearing up to host our guests after Christmas.
wednesday Club update
Wednesday Club is now being managed by Macey, and we have strengthened our core volunteer base over the past few months.
It’s wonderful to see both new and former guests mixing well together, and there is a lovely little Wednesday Club buzz. Our advice workers are being kept busy, and recently we had a lovely Christmas celebration.
sleepOut
We had close to 80 brave souls SleepOut for Robes at the end of November, and they have done an amazing job raising funds - we have close to £45,000 so far, and people can still donate until the end of January.
It was a brilliant night, with a fantastic performance from the South London Jazz Festival, and a great celebrity quiz.
Huge thanks to all who came, participated, fundraised, and most especially to the Southwark Cathedral SleepOut Committee, who’s hard work made it all possible.
thank you
Just a final word of thanks to all our supporters for all your encouragement and contributions - together we form a wonderful community to welcome and support our guests.
Thank you so much to you all from the Robes Team
