Would you like to sleep under the stars to help the homeless keep warm?
SleepOut Update 2018
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in Robes ‘SleepOut 2018’. So far the ‘SleepOut’ has raised from ‘Just Giving’ alone: £67,668.32. But watch this space, as the amount will increase and we will add to it, as the donations keep pouring in. Thank you!
Each November, you can join more than 150 volunteers sleeping outdoors in the precincts of Southwark Cathedral, raising money to offer warm beds to South London’s homeless during the winter. Our next SleepOut will take place on Friday, 29th November, at Southwark Cathedral.
Making the world of difference
The bridge in the image above represents the hope which can be provided to homeless people by the Robes Project, as they cross over from homelessness and turn their lives around.
It was painted by Nicky Nicholls, an artist who experienced homelessness herself, in memory of a woman she knew on the streets who has now passed away. The money that you raise through sponsorship, will provide warm beds and better prospects or ordinary people who are experiencing homelessness.
“I’ve always been concerned about homeless people. I think it’s a chance to empathise with the position they’re in.”
— Simon Hughes, patron
What happens on the night?
The SleepOut is fun! It includes:
Live entertainment from 8pm
A short evening service at 10pm
Time to socialise
A small security group looking after your safety
A small army of helpers with refreshments
Hot drinks, toilets and first aid available all night
And emergency shelter, in case of extreme weather conditions
How do I register?
We encourage both individuals and teams to apply, whether it’s corporates, churches or just a group of friends. Every team member will have to register individually. Make sure you indicate your team on the form.
Can I bring children or young people?
Young people between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome to attend, but they will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. The adult will have to register as normal, indicating on the form that they are planning to bring young people along. They will then have to print, fill in and sign the Young Person Registration and bring it along on the day of the SleepOut?
How can I collect sponsorships?
The easiest way to collect sponsorships is in online, by setting up an account at JustGiving; or manually, filling in a sponsorship form and sending us the money by cheque.
Please follow the link below to set up a sponsorship page that is automatically linked to the Robes SleepOut. All the money donated through the page – either online or through a text donation service that you can set up on the website, will come through to Robes directly. Get started here.
Alternatively, you can also use our Sponsorship-Form-2018 and send us the money by cheque by the 31st January 2019.
What will happen on the day?
