SHELTER SEASON UPDATE
We are excited to announce our updated plans for the season. This winter Robes will operate a static shelter with 18 rooms from LHA London Davies Court in Tower Hamlets. We are looking forward to starting this new project, and planning how we will provide high quality person centred advice, move on plans, meal provisions, and volunteer support to our future guests. The advice team will accept new referrals from mid October. The shelter will be open from November 2021 until April 2022.
There are many rewarding and impactful ways you can support our guests. You could prepare hot meals at our shelter, volunteer at our day clubs, or even apply to become a Trustee!
CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HELP THE ROBES FAMILY?
We are looking to recruit 3 new Trustees. Robes are particularly keen to find people across the following skills/backgrounds:
1. A person with lived experience of homelessness and night shelters, or
2. A person currently volunteering with a homeless charity
and/or passionate about making a difference to inner city homelessness, or
3. An individual representing their existing volunteer base, or
4. Someone with a link to the Southwark/Lambeth Church community

ROBES SMALL CAPTIAL GRANTS
Robes awarded small capital grants to 5 of its winter night shelter venues for the upgrading of the venues facilities that will benefit both the venue and our yearly guests. Due to the pandemics restrictions only 2 of the venues were able to claim the grants and get the work under way. Here is one example of the grant in action at St Luke’s Church:

Refurbishing the ground floor bathrooms is part of a bigger project called Community Hub, which aims to improve our ability to offer hospitality to our community, our volunteers and our users. The second part of this project involves improving our electrical circuits which I am happy to say we began this year, having found an electrical partner to work with us.

OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER AT TUESDAY CLUB
Robes are looking for Tuesday Club volunteers! The club is based at Holy Trinity Community Hall in partnership with Holy Trinity Church Clapham. The volunteer team and staff provide hot meals, advice drop in sessions, and essential items such as toiletries, clothing and donations every week.
