THE ADVICE WORK AT TUESDAY CLUB

Since the late 2020, and as a way to support palliate part of the negative effects of the pandemic on local people, we started offering Food Packages and Advice at the Tuesday Club. Slightly different from the Wednesday Club, but with the same core idea, Advice Sessions to tackle the issues that put people at risk of homelessness; helping them complement their skills and knowledge to support them revert their current situation.

We support with signposting, guidance and welfare support like representing clients with service providers or Official Government Departments, to guarantee that they receive a fair service, and they are not neglected for reasons of language or lack of knowledge.

Diana’s Story

Diana is a mother of 3, she migrated to London after her divorce to look for a better life for her and her sons. Due to the pandemic, she lost her employment and stop being able to pay her rent, putting her and her children at risk of becoming homeless. Although her children were schooled in the UK and her life was here, they refused her Universal Credit claims, she and her children were without any income or right to access benefits.

Robes Advisors put her in contact with employment services to support her into work again. She was able to get a 0 hour contract that allowed her to start earning some money and opened her the possibility to access Universal Credit for her and her children.

She is now moved into a permanent job, and slowly saving up to repay the months she missed of rent.
